Home Theater Network Makes it Easy to Connect All Devices Together

When browsing Home Theater PC and Media Center related websites, I came across a very interesting site called Home Theater Network which illustrates very nicely how to connect different home theater related devices together. I have been searching this kind of illustration for some time and I am happy to share this with all Digital Living Room readers. In addition to the connection illustration, it provides an easy navigation to drill into the each topic to get full details about the device.

The key purpose of this kind of illustrations is to demonstrate to the beginners and even more advanced people planning their home theater or media room how different devices work together and what kind of cables you should be using to connect them. It does not mean that you should get all the devices to enjoy full media experience, but it highlights the different options available.

The key components to get started are as follows:
- HDTV to enjoy the entertainment
- A/V Receiver to amplify the music and sounds
- High quality speakers
- Home Theater PC to play your music, videos and photos
- Remote control to control volume etc.
- Mouse and keyboard to browse internet and other applications
- Wireless router to get connected to internet

While this might sound a lot of devices, but if you look around at your house or apartment, you will notice that you own most of the devices already. You can often connect your existing laptop to your HDTV with either VGA or DVI-to-HDMI connector. You already have A/V receiver and speakers where you can connect your laptop. There are many ways to make your slow PC to play HD video files smoothly. In addition, what you often need is a decent Mouse such as Logitech MX Air Mouse to be able to properly control your computer.
