How to Bring YouTube and Hulu into Front Row

FrontRow is a simple yet powerful media center software packed together with Mac OSX Leopard or Snow Leopard. However, one thing that many people are missing in FrontRow is the ability to stream online video content from services such as YouTube, Hulu or Netflix. Many people were using Boxee Media Center application to stream Hulu content to their TV, but already for some time Hulu has been blocking Boxee from streaming their content. Fortunately, there is an alternative way how to stream Hulu content using media center software. This tip is only available for Mac OSX Leopard and Snow Leopard systems.
The solution for bringing YouTube, Hulu and Netflix into FrontRow is a plugin called Understudy. Understudy plugin will add a new menu section into the Front Row on Mac to subscribe to video streams offered by YouTube, Netflix, Hulu and many more. The key benefit is that you can conveniently browse the latest new videos on YouTube or Hulu navigating with the Apple Remote Control after connecting your Mac to your HDTV. YouTube streaming has always been available on Apple TV, but now you can do the same with the Front Row on your Mac Mini or Macbook.
You can get started with these simple steps:
1. Download and open the latest version of the Understudy from the Google Code
2. Start Front Row and select Understudy, Manage Feeds, Add, and then the video feed.
3. You can add custom RSS video feeds with the “URL in Clipboard” option
That is it. With these simple steps you can now play YouTube videos using your FrontRow application.
