Kylo TV Internet Browser for 10-Foot Interface

As all HTPC users know, browsing internet is not yet as optimized experience as you might expect from the large HDTV with a 10-Foot Interface. Fortunately, there are some ways to avoid Squinting the screen from the 10-foot distance.

Kylo web browser for HTPCs is designed to be used from your couch. Font size of the interface is very large and the address and toolbar are located at the bottom of the screen in a similar way as Wii Internet browser that is powered by Opera. The user interface is optimized to 10-foot interface with its large buttons and visual bookmarks.

However, the problem I have with the Kylo TV is that it does not default to higher zoom level, but you need manually zoom in every time. Instead, I like the NoSquint plugin for Firefox that defaults to e.g. 150 % zoom level.

— Update — The latest version of Kylo TV supports defaulting a zoom level to e.g. 150%.

The browser comes with several categories and links built-in. So many of the popular online streaming websites in the US are featured in the categories. Unfortunately, popular online video site Hulu does not work with the Kylo browser. In additional to the built-in favorites, you can use the onscreen keyboard to browse to your own favorite websites.

This browser is definately worth of trying, but it seems that it is not as complete product as you might expect. The biggest issue I have with the interface that by default it shows the websites as they would look like in any other browser. You need to manually zoom in every time you want to see the text size larger. Sure, the user interface is designed as 10-foot interface, but it is not enough, if the content it self still requires for squinting.
