What:
RSS feeds are an excellent way to get syndicated news in a compact format. As the information flow is so heavy nowadays, subscribing relevant news feeds helps you to be informed with minimum efforts. So why not to read RSS news comfortably from your sofa as you would do when watching the daily news broadcast. Many people are not finding this option attractive even if they already have a home theater PC in their living room. They find that conventional RSS reader interfaces such as Google Reader’s are not so suitable for their HDTV.
Why:
The default internet browser font size is very small and it is not always convenient to change font size when browsing news on the internet. If you enjoy reading news RSS feeds, it is recommended to use Google Reader. Google Reader allows you to easily subscribe to different news feeds and categorize them based on their genre. Google Reader can also act as a syndicate service for other 3rd party tools so that you can read your feeds on the go or any device you like.
How:
Google Reader has a user interface which was originally developed for Nintendo Wii console. Go to reader.google.com/wii to enjoy large font size and simplicity on your HDTV. This special user interface works on any computer and game console. If the text is still too small, you can adjust the default font size in your browser larger or increase the overall font size in your operating system.
Alternative option is to get an RSS visualizer screensaver which is capable displaying RSS feeds. Just add your Google Reader feed to the RSS screensaver and you will be conveniently informed while your computer is idle from other activities. Mac OSX has the RSS visualizer screensaver available. If you know a good RSS visualizer screensaver for Windows environment, please let me know about it.
